The Community’s Embrace of Resource Sharing: YICOD, Dedza
Today, Our team had the privilege of visiting the Youth Initiative for Community Development-Malawi (YICOD) projects in Kachere and Fosa Villages, Traditional Authority Kachere.
There the “Strengthening Food and Nutrition Security Project” is being implemented by Tilitonse Foundation and the Civil Society Agriculture Network (Cisanetmw) with support from the German Federal Department for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Malawi.
We were moved to witness the remarkable progress and improvements made, and the tangible impact on the communities. One of the most inspiring developments we observed was the community’s embrace of resource sharing. Beneficiaries of the project are now paying it forward, redistributing the hatched chicks to other families in need.
This selfless act has fostered a spirit of cooperation and sustainability, ensuring that the benefits of the project extend far beyond the initial recipients, demonstrating a successful model of resource redistribution that enhances food security for multiple households
